The fine print, in plain language
What is the base plan?
Every subscription starts with a base plan - Starter ($20), Growth ($40), Power ($85), or Max ($175). This gives you the full portal, Org Brain AI, staff management, messaging, and more. It also sets how much Cardinal AI your whole team can use each month. Modules for specialized workflows (Volunteers, Donors, Grants, etc.) are added on top: modules decide what Cardinal is allowed to work on, the base plan decides how much it can run.
What counts as a Cardinal AI action?
One action is one thing you ask Cardinal to do: a chat message, a drafted email, a proactive briefing, or a recipe run. It does not matter how long Cardinal thinks about it or how many steps it takes. Your whole team shares the monthly pool, so 500 actions on Growth is 500 across everyone, not per person.
What happens if we use them all in the first week?
By default you cannot. Plans are paced so no more than a quarter of the month can be spent in any one week, which stops one busy day leaving everyone else without an assistant. A lead admin can switch the org to flexible pacing in Settings if you would rather spend it whenever you need it. Either way the monthly total is the same.
What web address does my portal get?
Starter portals live at datovero.com/portal/your-org. Growth and Power orgs get their own subdomain - your-org.datovero.com - at no extra cost. Max orgs can bring their own domain (like portal.yournonprofit.org) with a simple DNS verification, or use the subdomain.
What does "support via ticket" mean?
Starter, Growth, and Power orgs submit support requests through the in-portal ticket system. We respond within 48 hours (Starter), 24 hours (Growth), or the same business day (Power). Max subscribers get a dedicated Slack or Teams channel for direct, real-time access.
What is Org Brain?
Org Brain is your organization's AI knowledge base - built into every plan. Store goals, processes, meeting notes, and SOPs as Markdown files. The AI agent reads those files alongside your live operational data to answer questions, track goal progress, and help your team stay coordinated.
How does the every-6-free rule work?
Add 6 or more modules and the cheapest one is automatically free. Add 12 and two are free. It's our way of rewarding orgs that go all-in on the platform.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan anytime?
Yes. Change your base plan tier and add or remove modules from your account page at any time. Billing updates are prorated to the day.
What happens after my 14-day trial?
After the trial you'll be prompted to add a payment method. If you don't, your portal enters read-only mode. All your data is preserved for 30 days.
Is there an annual plan?
Yes. Pay annually and get two months free: 10 months for the price of 12. Toggle annual billing in your account settings.
Do I need to verify as a nonprofit?
Not to get started. DatoVero is built for small nonprofits. If you are a 501(c)(3) and want to apply for a nonprofit discount, you can do that from your account settings after signing up.
